When you go to the park on a Sunday morning or pass a jamboree class, you see groups of moms, around the same age, with kids, around the same age, lattes and sippy cups in hand. You probably used to think, “I can’t wait until my friends and I all have kids at the same time! And our kids can be best friends!” But you’ll notice I said those children at the park were <em>around </em>the same age. There was that one friend who had the strange experience of being the first one to have children. Even if her kid is just three years older than the rest, those were still three whole years when she was living in a totally different world than her childless friends. In the big scheme of things, it’s a blip in time. But when you’re in those years, it can feel like an eternity! Here is what to expect if you’re the first in the friends' group to have kids.
